Ah, the romance of Italy! The land of Tuscany which has inspired romantic best-selling novels, films and now, your wedding! Even if you don’t have the budget to have a destination wedding in Tuscany, there are plenty of ways to incorporate the look and feel into your event. Celebrating the inherent beauty of nature is a huge part of Italian culture, so try to avoid an over-designed opulence.
Find a venue with gorgeous landscaping, natural spaces of greenery, stone walls and a fountain or two. Bonus points if there are arches that you can drape with greenery and floral boughs! Olive branches are your best choice for greenery – not only are these trees prolific in Italy and a perfect symbol for the country, but they work well in floral arrangements, tied to chairbacks, or scattered as part of the décor. Dining ‘Al fresco’ is a must – so find a venue that has a great outdoor space where you can set up long tables for your meal. Simple wooden chairs are perfect, or you can drape matching fabrics over them to elevate the look if you prefer.
And remember – dining ‘family style’ is the only way to do an Italian meal! Make sure your centerpieces won’t block conversation or inhibit camaraderie.
