Spring is fast approaching and soon the main wedding season will be upon us again. If you have a spring or summer wedding planned you will be tingling with excitement and your head will be spinning making plans, finding the venue, the flowers and more importantly, the wedding dress.
You will probably have a vision of the perfect dress, but finding it may be more difficult a task than you may think! We have come across a company who may be able to help you find the dress of your dreams in a more unusual way. Lace & Liberty have some wonderful designers behind a wide range of mix and match separates, with more than 200 designs to choose from, including beautiful tops, toppers, dresses, skirts and accessories.
Gone are the days when you found a wedding dress with a top half that you adored but hated the bottom. Lace & Liberty have some truly amazing designs in toppers, one of my favorites is the beautiful sweetheart neckline lace topper which I would recommend with the pretty tulle skirt or short which perfect for beach wedding like the one in the image below.
Buying online has it downfalls right? As you cannot feel the materials or see how your chosen dress would look and feel. Wrong, Lace & Liberty offer a try at home service so you can try on your chosen top and bottom together in the comfort of your own home, and test it out on friends and family before making your final choice.
Even better is the fact that they custom make their separates to ensure the perfect fit for every bride, no matter what her shape and size.
Lace & Liberty offers a sublime range or tops and bottoms all in materials that not only look and feel great, but which are high quality and will have you feeling as special as you are on your big day.
We were lucky enough to be able to catch up with designers of Lace & Liberty ” Jacqui and Daniella ” and they took the time out to tell us how they create their mix and match separate wedding dresses.
What inspired you to design wedding dresses? What’s the story behind the collection?
We started Lace & Liberty and designed a versatile collection of bridal separates because we wanted to offer more options and flexibility for brides. We wanted brides to be able to have a hand in creating the look that’s just perfect for her big day.
What we wanted to design and showcase is that bridal separates is the ultimate solution for Brides who are having trouble with finding a wedding dress they love. By offering tops, skirts and little white dresses separately, brides are able to effectively create their own wedding dress (no more falling in love with the top of one dress and the bottom of another dress) without the price tag of a custom made gown in the prices.
It is also a great solution for Brides who are torn in deciding on the style of dress she wanted. On the one hand, a bride may love the idea of the simple, elegant wedding dress that was easy to move and dance in – whilst on the other she wanted to have the statement tulle ballgown skirt. With separates you can do both, wear a dress underneath a big poofy skirt for the ceremony and then slip off the skirt to dance away in an effortless dress underneath.
Your fabric selections are so pretty! How involved were you in each step of the design process?
Jacqui my partner and I are very hands on in every step of the design process. After we have a vision of the style for our new designs, we go about finding the perfect fabrics to bring this vision to life. This process could be very slow or sometimes we happen across the perfect lace right away. We take our time to choose fabrics that look and feel great, as we want our brides to look stunning and feel comfortable throughout the day. We go through many iterations of our designs before presenting what you see here!
We seek inspiration through our travels, through nature and discovering the beautiful little things. We always have the bride in mind when we are designing, thinking of pieces to bring out the best of different body shapes, different styles and moods. Our pieces all standalone effortlessly by themselves but also combine beautifully together. We are always delighted to see how a bride pairs our pieces to their own liking, either be the different necklines, color or skirt styles, everyone is very unique. We also have brides who pair our skirts with checkered shirts, rompers and non traditional pieces that reflect their own unique style.
What more can you tell us about Lace & Liberty‘s dresses?
We want to let brides know that for all our pieces we will have it made to their own measurements! We wanted to take this extra step and personalize a dress for a bride as hefty tailoring needs is always a headache for brides. Needless to say this features is great for girls who don’t fit into standardized size proportions. And even if they are a perfect standard size, at the very least the length of your skirt is perfectly customized for you including taking into account the height of your heels.
Our turnaround time is quite fast at 8-12 weeks and for those last minute brides we often can accommodate last minute requests so they can have something custom made for them as well.
Lastly we wanted to mention our Try On At Home service which has proved to be a hit so far with our potential brides. Being able to sell our dresses online is truly amazing as brides are no longer limited to the assortment that are carried in their local bridal stores. Its not an issue if our bride is living in a large city but if she isn’t then her choices were traditionally quite limited. However there is always that hesitation of buying online, especially something as big as a wedding dress purchase. We send brides samples with items they have chosen to try on in the comfort of their own home and it has addressed any concerns they have on style, quality of buying online.
