This Halloween-Themed Wedding At Hayne Barn House Done Oh-Sooo-Right

We at Fabmood have seen some pretty interesting Halloween-themed weddings. But the one we’re sharing today stands out from the rest with a fun colour palette that shows us that Halloween-themed events don’t have to be grim and dark with just black and orange to base your colour scheme on. The couple featured in today’s real wedding seem to make a habit of celebrating holidays in a special way, so it’s fun to read about their story and how they came to have this beautiful Halloween-inspired wedding theme!

The couple met at a nightclub in Ashford many years ago- an evening that the bride claims must have been fate. “I didn’t want to go out that night, so obviously it was meant to be!” Steve popped the big question on Christmas Day, saving the best gift for the very last of the day.

When it came time to start planning the details of the big day, they knew they wanted an autumn celebration. When they scouted the venue at Hayne Barn House, they knew it was perfect to fit the colour scheme of fall. Their actual wedding day was a few days before Halloween, but they didn’t want to have too literal or overpowering of a holiday theme. We absolutely LOVE their colour choices: bright orange, vibrant pink, cream and yellow. Unsually bright and cheery for a fall colour scheme but it really works! Their bouquets are absolutely stunning, featuring all their colours in exotic flowers. Even the men’s boutonnieres are incredible to look at! Bright pink table runners with a few scattered small pumpkins kept the room colourful and fun. Not to mention the jars of yummy and colourful Halloween candy! And tissue pompoms in a variety of complimentary colours, including purple, teal, yellow and green, were tucked into the corners of the tent for a touch of whimsy.

And as for the bride’s gown – she fell in love with the first gown she tried on. She says, “I initially wanted a dress with sleeves and a lace bodice, but when the lady in the shop brought out the ivory strapless dress with a jacket, it was so beautiful! I tried on many more but went back to that first gown!” We think she made a great choice, don’t you?

How did you and your partner meet?

I met Steve at Flatfoot SAMs, a nightclub we used to have in Ashford back in March 2001. I didn’t want to go out that night as I’d been out the night before, so was obviously fate was meant to be.

How did he propose?

Steve proposed on Christmas Day 2015 by the Christmas tree, we had just opened up all our presents. This one was the best yet. I had no idea what he was planning as we never spoke about getting married.

Tell us about your wedding gown and how you chose it.

My dress, what can I say. I went to one dress shop in Chatham with two of my best friends with the intention of purchasing one that day. I initially wanted a dress with sleeves and a lace bodice. The lady in the shop bought out this ivory strapless dress with a small jacket, it was beautiful. I tried lots more on but went for that first dress. Couldn’t of been happier and was at the price I had set for myself.

What sort of style did you envision for your wedding day?

We wasn’t sure what we wanted for our wedding until we found Hayne Barn House. As it was going to be autumnal I wanted to keep in keeping with the colours of Autumn and a rustic look.

What was your favourite moment from the day?

The whole day was special. I read something about looking at your guests when they weren’t looking to see how they were enjoying themselves. I had so many compliments about our day from them so feel we did a good job.

Any DIY decor elements?

We didn’t want anything too over powering so went for pom-poms around the marquee and we carved out pumpkins that spelt out LOVE with tea lights in them to keep in with Halloween that was only days away, along with small pumpkins on the table as part of the table decorations.

Anything else you’d like to add?

I would like to add that all the staff at Hayne Barn House were fantastic, as well as our other vendors and we couldn’t have done it without their help.
